Founder/Director's Biography

SoloQuest's Founder/Director is Deborah Stewart who attended high school in Sao Paulo, Brazil and earned a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Michigan. She completed her teaching credential at Dominican College. Deborah possesses a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Sonoma State University and an Administrative Credential as well as a single subject Social Science credential.

With over 37 years of experience as an educator in both private and public school settings, Deborah created and founded Tamiscal High School of the Tamalpais Union High School District in 1990. She served as principal of the school for nine years. Before retiring from the district in 2007, Deborah served as the Director of Adult and Community Education.

Deborah worked in the Marin Independent Learning School and helped found The Marin School, both private alternative schools. All of these public and private schools where Deborah has taught and served as an administrator have emphasized the needs of each individual student as the top priority of the school.

SoloQuest Leadership Team

The Leadership Team organized the school staff during the self-study of the WASC accreditation process. The team has continued to meet weekly to implement the Action Plan and make decisions about the school and learning center.
